Preliminary Description of Coelophysoids ( Dinosauria : Theropoda ) from the Upper Triassic ( Revueltian : Early - mid Norian ) Snyder Quarry , North - Central New Mexico

چکیده

The Upper Triassic Snyder quarry is the second-most productive theropod locality in the Chinle Group. Skull and postcranial elements, particularly tibiae, collected from the Snyder quarry during the last three field seasons demonstrate the presence of at least four individuals of two taxa. The smaller theropod strongly resembles, but is distinct from, the holotype of Eucoelophysis baldwini Sullivan and Lucas and represents either a sexual dimorph or, more likely, a new species of Eucoelophysis. The larger theropod is represented by a single, incomplete fused tibia-fibula-astragalus-calcaneum. Most striking about this taxon is the proximal fusion of the tibia and fibula. These theropods are a small fraction of a rich and diverse assemblage of Upper Triassic vertebrates and invertebrates from the most productive Chinle Group vertebrate fossil assemblage discovered in the last 50 years. The Microvertebrate Fauna of the Upper Triassic (revueltian) Snyder Quarry, North-central New Mexico

—The Snyder quarry is a well-documented assemblage of Late Triassic invertebrates and vertebrates from the Painted Desert Member of the Upper Triassic Petrified Forest Formation in the Chama Basin, north-central New Mexico. The presence of Revueltian index taxa, including the aetosaurs Typothorax coccinarum and Desmatosuchus chamaensis and the phytosaur Pseudopalatus buceros, demonstrate that t...

The Vertebrate Fauna of the Upper Triassic (revueltian: Early-mid Norian) Painted Desert Member (petrified Forest Formation: Chinle Group) in the Chama Basin, Northern New Mexico

—The Upper Triassic Painted Desert Member of the Petrified Forest Formation in north-central New Mexico yields one of the most extensive and significant Revueltian (early-mid Norian) tetrapod faunas known. Particularly significant aspects of this fauna are: (1) its long history of collection and study, including designation of important type specimens; and (2) the richness of the unit, includin...

An Early Eubrachyuran (malacostraca: Decapoda) from the Upper Triassic Snyder Quarry, Petrified Forest Formation, North-central New Mexico

New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science (NMMNH) locality L-3845 in the Petrified Forest Formation of the Chinle Group (Rio Arriba County, NM) yields nonmarine fossil vertebrates, invertebrates, and plants of Revueltian (early-mid Norian, ~218-210 Ma) age. We describe a 48 mm long by 19 mm wide decapod specimen (NMMNH P-29041) that originated in one of several fining-upward depositional...

A Revision of the Upper Triassic Ornithischian Dinosaur Revueltosaurus, with a Description of a New Species

Ornithischian dinosaur body fossils are extremely rare in Triassic rocks worldwide, and to date the majority of such fossils consist of isolated teeth. Revueltosaurus is the most common Upper Triassic ornithischian dinosaur and is known from Chinle Group strata in New Mexico and Arizona. Historically, all large (>1 cm tall) and many small ornithischian dinosaur teeth from the Chinle have been r...
